Day 1 · 10 min

You're Already Qualified

BedCamp · Day 1

You've been doing this work for years.

Without the credential. Starting now.

If you've navigated a healthcare system while ill — tracking symptoms, researching diagnoses, fighting for treatment, coordinating care across specialists who don't speak to each other — you've been doing expert-level work.

Unpaid. Uncredentialled. Often while in pain.

BedCamp exists to name what you already know, show you what's available, and point you toward the track that fits.

The founding insight of the Bed* school

Chronic illness is an involuntary education in exactly the skills healthcare most needs.

Research: You read papers, interrogate sources, build a case from evidence institutions are motivated to ignore.

Communication: You explain the unexplainable to people who don't want to hear it.

Advocacy: You fight for yourself inside systems designed to lose you.

Navigation: You built a map of a system that published no map.

These are not soft skills. These are the core competencies of healthcare work.

What the Bed* school is

A free 5-day camp. Four pathways open today, and every lesson in all of them is free to read — no account, no payment. A certificate costs €19 per course or €59 per pathway, only if you want one.

All of it built for variable capacity — short lessons, no deadlines, progress saves after every card. Designed to work on bad days and good ones.

None of it requires you to pretend you're fine.

Reflection

In one sentence: what skill has your illness built in you that the world hasn't given you credit for?

Hold the answer in your head, write it in a journal, or post it in our Discord — your call. Nothing is captured here.

Day 1 done.

  • ·Your lived experience is already professional-grade knowledge
  • ·The Bed* school names, formalises, and credentials what illness built
  • ·No energy minimums — designed for the body you actually have
